Nitrogen budgeting under the influence of in situ rice residue management options in rice (Oryza sativa)–wheat (Triticum aestivum) cropping system

A field experiment was conducted during rainy (kharif) and winter (rabi) seasons 2019–20 2020–21 at the research farm of ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi to study effect rice establishment techniques (RETs) microbial consortia mediated in situ residue management options on nitrogen (N) budgeting a (Oryza sativa L.)-wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cropping system (RWCS). The laid out split plot design with 3 replications having 2 main treatments, viz. aerobic (AR) conventional transplanted (CTR) kharif 7 sub clean cultivation (removal paddy straw), straw incorporation, mulching, incorporation + Pusa decomposer, mulching urea @20 kg/ha, decomposer @10 kg/ha. residual effects these treatments were observed seed drill zero till sown wheat rabi seasons. Results showed that N uptake (95.1 kg/ha 100.4 CTR 79.4 83.8 AR) significantly superior than AR wheat, resulted higher (136.4 141.5 kg/ha) other it followed by both years. nutrient RWCS an important indicator soil fertility plant status. This investigation concluded there is need for use positive balance spite enhanced uptake.
